Born James Edward Plummer, Jr. on November 22, 1966, in New Orleans, he adopted the name Hakeem Oluseyi as a young adult.
Dr. Oluseyi’s journey is marked by his profound resilience and commitment to overcoming obstacles. Despite facing socioeconomic challenges in his early life, he pursued his passion for science, earning a Ph.D. in Physics from Stanford University. His research has spanned various areas, including solar physics, cosmology, and the development of space-borne instruments.
A notable achievement in his career was his work on the development of the Far-Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer (FUSE) satellite. Dr. Oluseyi also holds multiple patents for inventions in digital signal processing and has contributed to the field of semiconductor manufacturing.
