Dr. Aprille Ericsson is a trailblazing aerospace engineer whose work has significantly contributed to space exploration and science. Born on April 1, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York, she became the first African American woman to receive a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Howard University, as well as the first African American woman to receive a Ph.D. in Engineering at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
Throughout her career, Dr. Ericsson has been involved in numerous NASA missions, including contributions to the development of spacecraft and instruments used in studying the Earth and other planets. Her work has been pivotal in advancing our understanding of space and has earned her numerous awards and honors for her contributions to science and engineering.
