Dr. Aprille Ericsson is a trailblazing aerospace engineer whose work has significantly contributed to space exploration and science. Born on April 1, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York, she became the first African American woman to receive a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Howard University, as well as the first African American woman to receive a Ph.D. in Engineering at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
