“My future starts when I wake up every morning. That’s when it starts-when I wake up and see the first light. Then, I’m grateful.”

~ Miles Davis, Jazz Musician

The energy of this new month in the New Year 2022 is just the motivation I needed to start fresh. For years, I’ve made it a practice to enter a new calendar year making personal milestone history a public relations prize. I set my resolutions to enter each year better than I exited the year previous.

My entrePReneurISHing™ lifestyle is ever-evolving, and I ‘trend’ to emerge with a new brand in January to develop and establish for success the eleven months that remain in the year. It starts off at New Year’s evening, a popular occasion to celebrate the crossing over into the next twelve-month sequence of days without any thought of tucking in for sleep or solitude.

On January 1st I launched an elegant new magazine for authors with supporting authors via a digital online community powered by WordPress, called AUTHORious.

It took a considerable amount of physical energy, investment of time, and conscious force to support and ensure it kept the same momentum that it launched with.

That meant I had to work without lunch, and weekend breaks, and miss several days turning into nights…TURNING into lost sleep. This week I’m nearing the next issue’s release date and can feel the first impression burden for success lifting its heavy head. I can’t afford to get sick and let my health slide down the rabbit hole of the chronic public health crisis at hand.

After a three-day-and-night stint requiring the layout of spotlight author interview features, book promotions, and special author enthusiast sections, I can feel the fatigue setting in. This year is different I am aware of the consequences of my weakness, a vulnerability to stress attacking my immune system.

The publication must be digitally published on time, and time won’t wait on me to catch up in recovery from a body shut down due to illness.

So what did I do that is new this new month, and new year 2022, that I’ve never seen before? I made an executive decision to protect the publishing project and take myself off the day’s production schedule. I saluted the day before sunrise at 2:00 am central time, and entered an extravagant sabbatical nap series, as a self-care binge my body had been craving all this “bloganuary” month long.

I slept like a newborn baby against a lullaby-like melody of billionaire affirmations.

When I awoke twelve hours later, I was ready to take the last tasks of this publishing deadline week and month by Wintery storm.

Google’s English dictionary provided by Oxford Languages defines self-care as “the practice of taking action to improve one’s own health; and as “the practice of taking an active role in protecting one’s own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.” That action gave me the bio-revival I needed to get back on top of my publishing game.

That self-care spa-nap-session enabled me to take myself off a busy to-do calendar, so I could center my thoughts for this blog post today.

I hope by sharing how I put my self-care first, as a health-priority resolution to the first month’s stress challenges, oh hell, life’s challenges in general; helps someone who takes an expensive life moment to read it, and be empowered to know that self-care isn’t selfish… it’s a healthy activity that can bolster busy lifestyles for habitual SUCCESS.
